What's involved in an unvented cylinder service?

On an annual unvented hot water cylinder service SH Gas Care carries out the following tasks to ensure your unvented hot water cylinder is safe to use and is working as efficiently as possible saving you money on heating and/or hot water energy.

• Visual inspection - this is our first step on the unvented cylinder service as we're checking for any obvious issues with the hot water cylinder (i.e any leaks) and that it complies with building regulations.

• We then isolate the water and electrics to the unvented hot water cylinder.

• Cleaning/inspecting the filter on the inlet control is the next step - this is a small filter on the incoming water supply to the unvented cylinder that stops any debris from entering the system.

• Drop the pressure in the heating side - if applicable then Check the pressure in the expansion vessels to make sure they're operating correctly and efficiently (Hot water 3Bar and Heating 1.5Bar).

• Check the operation of safety valves on the expansion vessels and the unvented hot water cylinder itself.

• Ensure all electrics are working correctly (This involves checking the immersion heaters, zone valves, hot water stats etc).

• Check the water temperature is within calibration to the hot water cylinder temperature stat.



• Finally update the service records (We'll provide a booklet if you don't have one already for the unvented hot water cylinder).
